Nov. 30, 2012, Vancouver BC:  The Mahony Family of Vancouver are proud to announce they’ll be opening a new Mahony & Sons location in 2013, taking over the Monk McQueen’s location at Stamps Landing.  This will be the third Mahony & Sons location, complementing the Mahony & Sons UBC and Mahony & Sons Burrard Landing at Coal Harbour locations. Mahony & Sons is thrilled to have secured one of Vancouver’s premier waterfront locations and when open, Mahony & Sons Stamps Landing aims to have 250 capacity inside and 300 on the patio, making it one of Vancouver’s largest premium restaurant venues.

With a family history that includes centuries of publicans, today Mahony & Sons offers an authentic Irish pub experience serving up delicious comfort food complemented by a wide selection of craft and international pints, approachable wines, and an extensive selection of premium spirits. In addition, guests of Mahony & Sons enjoy warm Irish hospitality and the best of live musical entertainment on select nights. In 2012, Mahony & Sons was recognized by Where Magazine as Best Pub Fare in Vancouver.

“We are very proud and excited to be opening Mahony & Sons Stamps Landing and look forward to being a part of the growing South False Creek community,” says Chris Mahony, Proprietor of Mahony & Sons. “The team at Monk’s – from the owners and management to their entire team, have done a remarkable job in building Monk’s into the destination it is today and we welcome the opportunity to build on that tradition.

“We looked at a many opportunities and locations over the past year, including others around Olympic Village, and there simply were none that compared to the Stamps Landing location- not even close,” added Chris Mahony. “It’s a very special location and when we open up in the Summer of 2013 after an extensive renovation, we’re going to have an incredible restaurant and oceanfront patio for locals and visitors year round.

Monks has been in business at the Stamps Landing location for over 26 years, and wishes the Mahony family well. “We’ve had an incredible run at Stamps Landing for the last few decades and have met so many wonderful friends.” says Monk’s owner Bob Lindsay. “I wish the Mahony family the best of success and sincerely hope they enjoy being at this unrivalled location as much as we have.”
